ROCKBOX CAJON DRUMS: Innovation has been the driving force behind the unique sound of Rockbox cajons, honed over 23 years of persistent experimentation. Throughout this journey, I’ve crafted cajons with countless variations—exploring different woods, snare designs, coatings, sizes, and more. Many of these changes were fresh innovations, learning through trial and error. Along the way, mistakes were made, but each one led to refinement, ultimately shaping the distinct Rockbox cajon sound you hear in the videos below.

Standard Model Rockbox Cajon



The latest standard model Rockbox Cajon with new elegant design and adjustable snare system Same size, same timber as the pro model Rockbox cajon, but with a different snare system. The new standard model rockbox has an adjustable snare (new pat pending) attached from the top of the cajon, quite unique in the world of cajons.

The frame is made from sustainable New Zealand plantation pine, each piece of timber is carefully selected for qualities such as grain and straightness. Depending on what's available, the front is made from selected Maple ply, either French polished by hand (for a crisper sound) or urethane (sprayed on) The back of the drum is the same just thicker ply 6-7mm. The new (pat pending) adjustable snare is simple and elegant in it's design allowing forward and backward movement as well as twisting. The snare can be removed and replaced in seconds by one hand, no tools necessary. The addition of a synthetic leather handle for easy carrying is very convenient (additional $30) The latest front panel design is more subdued, see the latest batch of drums If a professional, durable, amazing sounding drum is what you are looking for, please come and test my drums and hear the difference. I also have a selection recently made from recycled materials, including; Queensland Maple, Australian Red Cedar, Oak and various Australian hardwoods. Workmanship warranty: This guarantees it's quality and craftsmanship, this does not mean it's indestructible! Workmanship warranty: does not include freight charges to and from for overseas buyers. The front hitting panel is just 3mm thickness and is not guaranteed against breaking. Meaning if you put your hand through it by hitting it way too hard it's not under warranty. In normal circumstances this should not happen! One incident in 11 years. The snare wires should only be touched with care and can easily be bent out of shape( like any drum snare) If it's in tune and sounds great, leave it that way. Don't let your friend put his hand through the sound hole feeling around to see how it works, my warranty doesn't cover this.
